Haha. This is a big issue where I live right now. BISD is thinking about having a mandatory school uniform now. XD
Personally, I have no opinion on this one. I think that it's stupid to try to "conform" people through school uniforms, but I know it's not going to work. They can try it all they want, but people are going to rebel, and I'm going to LAUGH! Hahahahaha!
Anyways. Opinions? I'm actually VERY curious about this one. =3

Ok, I know where you are coming from. ROISD made us wear uniforms. Polos and slacks. It sucked. They made the rules way to difficult to follow and they would change them in the middle of the year causing mass confusion and us having to spend more money.
The idea of uniforms is actually not stupid, but only for PRIVATE schools. The idea of having uniforms for PUBLIC schools is just plain retarded.
The reason my old school went to uniforms is to see what would happen. I remember the first day of my sophomore year when they enforced the dress code.
Anyone who broke dress code was sent home. My last class only 14 out of 28 people were present. All the rest had been sent home.
Personally, I think that schools should just not have uniforms unless they are private schools. I feel that now-a-days schools only worry about what you are wearing and not the dress code. Like for example, sending over half of the student body home making them miss the first day of class, missing important information just because of a stupid thing like a logo on the shirt.
That's why I LOVE college. No fucking dress code. Dude, if you have morning classes you can go in your pajamas!!
I'm waiting for my psychology class to get canceled one day so I can go to math wearing pajamas.

My High school did have uniforms but they got rid of them when they saw that things weren't working out.
I don't particularly like uniforms but there is nothing we can do about it. JennieBear's school had a survey for the parents and didn't most of the parents say they DIDN'T want uniforms but they passed it anyways??

Yeah they did and some parents were outraged. A few students got transferred to another school or got home schooled. Totally blew...

It's idiotic. Some people say it's cause so everyone can wear the same clothes and no one would be made fun of for not having this brand of clothes, but with I went to your school, I saw kids there with Abercrombie and American Eagle polos on.
Totally idiotic as I said.

I personally think that uniforms are sometimes brought in as a way to downsize bullying.... I see it in my school all the time, kids getting bullied for the way they dress.....
with bringing in uniforms it knocks away that opportunity for bullies... I'm not saying that it stops bullying all together, because the bully can choose something else to bully about.... but I've just noticed it had a lot to do with chosen outfits....
not long ago I got seriously made fun of on my bus for this jacket my momma bought me. it was this light and dark yellow plaid jacket and I personally really, really liked it.... but I got so teased and made fun of I actually cried every time I got home and I'm afraid to wear the jacket anymore becasue of it....
I really wish my school would invest in getting school uniforms... it feels horrible to be picked on for the way you dress.... and now i know how it feels....

I hated wearing uniforms because everyone at my school wore these nice polos and everything and I wore these raggedy crappy polos. I don't think that really stopped people from bullying each other. There is no way to stop bullying.
I think you should wear what you want to wear. I wear some pretty strange things and I don't care what people think because everyone is entitled to your opinion. That's why I love college so much because you have much more freedom than you did in High School.

I've been in both settings. In middle school we had uniforms, but not in high school or college. I didn't see a real difference in the amount of bullying. Uniforms literally did nothing but annoy the heck out of students. I'm really against having uniforms for schools because of this, it does no good.
And this is from someone who doesn't do anything trendy for clothes, as well, and I really never was made fun of.
