Alright... Personally, I think the swine flu is aboslutely insane. I had a cousin catch it, and my friend has it right now, but it seems to me like everybody is freaking out about all of this, and nobody is taking time to look it up. I actually had a girl tell me the other day "If we wnant to get rid of the swine flu... why don't we just kill all the pigs?" I think that the entire thing has gone from a newly discovered and named diesies {SP?} to a mass paranoia. I haven't gotten vaccinated {fear of needles comes into play there}, and I'm perfectly fine. Yep. No swine flu here!
So yeah... Opinions?

The swine flu didn't actually come from pigs.
It's a virus that came from merged with the regular flu. If we come into contact with pigs, we won't get it most likely.
The reason people freak out is because it's something new and no one has a vaccination for it YET. And there have been cases of people dying from this but of course, people can die from the flu and the common cold.
Like I said, this is something new and it took everyone by surprise. The reason people are freaking out is because they don't know what will happen to them.
It's kind of like this:
Say you are watching an anime. The anime is going pretty good, the story line is awesome and you like it. But then suddenly everything changes and the characters all get changed.
Basically, our way of life was going pretty well and then something changed and everyone gets paranoid because it's something new. That's how everything is. Life, everything.

I completely agree. The swine flu is just mass paranioa, I say again. The whole thing is stupid. Not very many people in the US died from it... And if you compare it to other, past flus, not many people in Mexico died either. 200. Wow. That's just... wow..

<.<' The young and resilient won't die from it. Only the babies and the exceptionally old people. Personally, I don't mind when a disease comes and wipes a few hundred out. We need to thin these numbers occasionally. . . Anyway, yes, I agree that this is just one mass hysteria, but since I don't like being sick, I'll stay away from the sick. XD I haven't been vaccinated with a flu shot in over 6 years and I haven't had the flu at all. I'm not worried.

It's bad, yeah, I understand. I mean, aren't most things bad? But it's nothing to be freaking out over, like most people seem to be. When I was sick, I was throwing up and couldn't keep food down, and nobody freaked out about THAT! 6 days of eating no solid foods. That's pretty bad. And yet, one person dies from the Swine Flu and OHMYGOD EVERYBODY RUN AWAY!!!!!

Well, when things get publicized people tend to make a bigger deal out of things for some reason.

It's because it got publicized. If you got publicized, MAYBE they might make a big deal about it.
But just remember, this is a NEW disease. There have already been 4 deaths counted in the Dallas region. 4! And I mean, I understand where people are coming from but I take this very seriously. Illness is something not to be taken lightly. It's a very important subject.
But soon all this will end because a vaccine is coming and everything will hopefully settle down.
And do mean 200 people have died from it? That's a huge number. That's a pretty good chunk of a schools population.

Most of that two hundred (and more, actually) were the elderly who have bad immune systems. Two hundred really isn't a big number if you think of the countless other diseases that have killed thousands. AIDS and cancer is what scientists truly need to be working on.

Confinement was a good decision. -shrug- I say its mostly in the cities that have it the worst. People need to learn to be careful with things like this. Though, admittedly, I have to agree with Himmels on the AIDS and cancer thing. Priorities.

They are working on cancer and AIDS but sometimes things need to be put aside to make sure that a new disease doesn't wipe out the whole world.
And the vaccine is coming sometime in October.

XD I doubt the Swine Flu is going to wipe out the entire world. Maybe the third world, but the first world countries like ours are survivors.

I don't know >.> I've said my two cents on this subject. But as for the vaccine, I'm sure that it will work. Vaccines are actually just a weakened virus, one that can not make us sick, and they put it into our systems so our immune system can recognize it and fight them off from now on. I've only had a flu shot twice and I've never had to get another one cause I never got the flu. My system knows how to fight it off now
